Do I need to get more than one estimate?
No, in the state of Texas you are allowed to use the repair shop of your choice. Most of the time you may not even need a shop's estimate, generally the insurance company that is paying will have an appraiser to inspect the vehicle. You can bring that estimate to us and we will handle the claim and repairs from that point. Obtaining multiple estimates will only cause confusion.
Do I need to take the vehicle to the shop that my insurance company suggested?
Absolutely not. This is steering and is illegal in Texas. You have the right to have your vehicle repaired where you want. Some insurance companies will use scare tactics to make you think you must. Some insurance company representatives will make comments like "we will not warrant the repairs" or "you may have additional expenses" if you have it repaired anywhere else. These are all scare tactics and are not factual. It is the shop that stands behind their repairs not the insurance company. You should only have one amount to pay and that is your deductible.
Do I get a rental vehicle while my vehicle is in the shop for repairs?
If you are filing a claim with your insurance carrier, you may have included rental reimbursement on the policy, in this case, you get a rental. If you are filing a claim under your uninsured motorist coverage, it also will cover a rental vehicle and it has a lower deductible, $250.00 compared to the higher deductible of a collision claim. If you have filed a claim against another party and they were at fault, that company is obligated to rent you a vehicle for the duration of repairs.
Do I need an appointment for an estimate?
No, however calling ahead could possibly get you in and out of our office quicker. You may also discover after discussing the claim with our staff that you do not actually need an estimate from us, especially if an insurance company is going to, or already has inspected the damages.
When do I need to pay my deductible?
Your deductible is to be paid to the repair shop and is due when you pick your vehicle up.
